Safe Handling of Refrigerants – Renewal Candidates

DURATION: 2 DAYS

This two day course is aimed at candidates who have a valid registration with SAQCC Gas/SARACCA. This registration with must be renewed every 3 years.

  • The course covers Knowledge of the OHS Act, P.E.R., SANS 10147, Workshop Safety & PPE.
  • Practical assessments consists of draining oil from the system, simulating charging refrigerant into the system & BA Set/Chemical suit exercises.
  • The candidate must complete both the theory and practical components to be certified as competent. The candidate must complete a portfolio of evidence to provide proof of competency.
  • A certificate of competency will be issued on successful completion which must accompany your application with SAQCC Gas/SARACCA.
  • Please note that the registration process is only complete once you have submitted your application to SAQCC Gas & received your card.

Safe Handling of Refrigerants – New Candidates

DURATION: 3 DAYS

This course is aimed at new candidates who have never registered with SAQCC Gas/SARACCA or their current registration has expired.

  • The course covers Knowledge of the OHS Act, P.E.R. R734, SANS 10147, Workshop Safety & PPE.
  • Practical assessments consists of draining oil from the system, simulating charging refrigerant into the system & BA Set/Chemical suit exercises.
  • The candidate must complete both the theory and practical components to be certified as competent. The candidate must complete a portfolio of evidence & a written test to provide proof of competency.
  • A certificate of competency will be issued on successful completion which must accompany your application with SAQCC Gas/SARACCA.
  • Please note that the registration process is only complete once you have submitted your application to SAQCC Gas & received your card.

  • Aligned with elements of the QCTO National Skills Programs: Refrigeration Mechanic SAQA ID 642702 and Occupational certificate: Air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic SAQA Qual ID: 642701.

DURATION: 4 DAYS

  • Thermodynamic Processes in Refrigeration
  • Vapour Compression Refrigeration System
  • Components in refrigeration system.
  • Refrigeration Systems
  • Defrost methods
  • Knowledge of the OHS Act, P.E.R., SANS 10147, Workshop Safety & PPE.
  • Practical assessments consists of draining oil from the system, simulating charging refrigerant into the system & BA Set/Chemical suit exercises.

These courses will be arranged on an Ad-Hoc basis.

  • The course covers Knowledge of the OHS Act, P.E.R. R734, SANS 10147, Workshop Safety & PPE.
  • Practical assessments consists of refrigerant recovery, leak check, pressure test & evacuation of the system.
  • The candidate must complete both the theory and practical components to be certified as competent. The candidate must complete a portfolio of evidence & a written test to provide proof of competency.
  • A certificate of competency will be issued on successful completion which must accompany your application with SAQCC Gas/SARACCA.
  • Please note that the registration process is only complete once you have submitted your application to SAQCC Gas & received your card.
